IT TAKES A MOVE WITH A GARNISH OF PERSISTENT
Born and raised in a very small and unpopular informal settlements of Botlokwa where nothing much really went on was Matome Robert Thoka, now mostly known as ‘’Limpopo Boy Bujwa’’ who despite his ordinary background always seemed to stand out from the rest even from a very young age, this talented fella was determined to turn what others refer to as a hobby into a magnitude of a career!
HUMBLE BEGININGS
It had all started off at the dusty yet hopeful village streets of Botlokwa, dancing was a not just a dance but it was a way of expressing oneself, ‘’I have been dancing forever, I was amongst popular dancers in Mautswi and Mosima Primary Schools…I noticed how my dance moves had the power to move the crowd during street and school battles.’’
The Bujwa jigga further explained that it had never been about the money but entertaining and healing people had always been the goal, just putting a smile on someone and make them forget about their life problems was just more than enough of a payment.
IRON MAN!
Raised by three strong and influential women with no father figure and no one to look up to as a man, this bubbly confident young man had to figure out manhood on his own, he had no choice but to figure it out real quick yet real good and there were clashes of ideas between the societal expectations and the individualistic definition of what a Man really is in the quest to discover manhood not only for oneself but a little brother who looked up to him as a male figure.
NO REGULAR VILLAGER
We all know that our small communities mothers very talented individuals who just never get enough exposure that demands recognition, we have people who break World records but they don’t get to make it to World record Guinness books, merely because their shine is deemed by their background but this Limpopo boy was not ready to give into the fight and be one of those who just never get to make it out of their small communities; Matome was even eager to make it even bigger as he moved into the big city of Pretoria in 2013 with the purpose to dance and further his studies, of which he did as he holds a qualification as a management assistant with Edusa College…this brainy one’s journey sure does act as a reminder that education is still just as important, we all need something to fall back on and education will never divorce you, it’s something you carry to the grave with! THE FIGHT FOR RECOGNITION
It’s survival of the fittest in this jigsaw World of entertainment showbiz where everyone fights for relevance, it’s a territory where one either fight, dominate and make it or relax and fade into thin air and this Bujwa jigga forced his way in...
People will always envy ones success but only few will really take the time to care about the journey it took for one to get where they are, the story of this success-hungry being is a testimony that it’s never easy but it’s possible with a black child. It all started with social channels, ‘’I started taking videos of my work and putting it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and later even opened up my Utube channel where I would tag celebrities I wished to work with…’’ BIG BREAK…
‘’My dream finally came true when DJ Cleo recognised a video shot while I was just chilled with friends, Cleo then inboxed me…it was 2015 and we just started working together this year and the experience has been great and opened a lot of doors for me,’’ except DJ turned Soccer player agent, Matome has worked with Madenza-lash and Mr Style who believed in the kid since day one and some of other big names like DJ Ganyane, Lady Zamar, King Monada to mention a few.
Through the inspiration from Strike Matotoka, the Founder and CEO of Edusa College who dubbed him as a choreographer and opening a dance academy for him, Matome now owns his self-made Limpopo Boy Entertainment and Projects company and he plans to study even further.
