“We’re a debt-free township that strives to keep it together through entertainment and kasi business”, argued Sifiso Sithole best known by his stage name DJ Mafresh; a young driven businessman born in Duduza Eastrand Gauteng who later moved to Tembisa, Ivory Park where he’s recently residing and making the township interesting through music and offering a range of fashion accessories, mainly colourful “Happy” socks being top or the range product. On Saturday, 25 November Mafresh was hosting Rock Da Socks event – number of people went out to support wearing colourful “happy” socks right where he hosted (Friend Zone Pub; situated in the heart of Ivory Park).
The concept behind this event is to promote socks and other accessories within the modern fashion ekasi and if possible around the world at large.
Mafresh believes that this event is an opportunity for people to showcase their fashionable abilities. “We aim to bring the world’s fashion to our very own township by introducing more fascinating fashion accessories at an affordable price for both male and female”, said Mafresh. It is popularly known that kasi people are known for being clumsy on neatness and personal hygiene. However, the exact motive of the event is to elevate personal hygiene through offering fashion accessories that demand one to prioritize personal hygiene.
Mafresh & his company RDS offer colourful socks in events such as the The Market to make people feel good about themselves and subconsciously raise awareness about personal character & hygiene.
“The event was awesome, the beer was cold, and the meat was fresh and delicious not to forget the music.
Fashion was at its best almost everyone was rocking their “happy” socks, said Maryline Maluleke. On the very same night Mafresh stated that he managed to sell over 70 pairs of colourful socks. A pair of happy socks only cost sixty five rand, so there is no excuse for you not to get a pair.
“Like the name says happy socks. I feel happy, I feel good when I’m wearing them, they make me feel comfortable and clean, they also make me feel fashionable”, stated Wito Mnisi, a deejay who was there to support his fellow mate wearing his yellowish happy socks with Adidas Super Star.
