PaulDave foundation is founded by Karabo Mokgosi to help underprivileged school children by supplying them with school uniform and other needs.
The 22 year.old was born and bred in Modimolle, Phagameng. She is a third year student at Richfield Graduate Institute of Technology, currently studying Business Management.
Karabo lost her father when she was six (6) years of age, shortly after that her mom passed away when she was at the tender age of ten (10). Since then life has not been peaches and roses .
Her life was tough to a point that she attempted suicide three (3) times. She was sexually harassed twice and went through major depression by the age of 16. After the third attempt on taking her life, she met her previous High school teacher who took her in and took care of her.
Basically PaulDave was started just to share her story, even if it helps change one individual’s life and give direction and hope to a lost child. She wanted to empower, inspire and motivate other young who are going through the same thing. She is trying to show young people that it is possible to make it through.
Since 2015, she has been speaking to students in her township, motivating them and giving them hope. They had their first ever event which was a charity event. They collected sanitary pads and roll on’s for the kids who can’t afford to buy them.
The foundation has adopted ten (10) children whom they monitor and make sure they have enough resources to succeed at school. They buy them school uniform and also help them with their homework’s and other struggles.
They have adopted eight (8) more who are in high school. They mentor them, help them with their school necessities. Of course bringing in sponsorship was not easy. A couple of doors were shut right in her face yet she had to humble herself.
The main thing that kept her going was the hope she was giving those children and eventually God revealed Himself because of the faith she had in Him. She managed to get doctors and business people in her community to sponsor her foundation.
The kids are now showing a difference bit by bit in their studies because they have study material. She wants PaulDave to be known throughout the world, in fact she wants to spread the help across South Africa. She wants to help with social development that our townships need.
She wants to see these kids grow to be even bigger than her. She wants to accumulate more young people who needs the help.
“Oprah herself started somewhere. If you really want it, all it takes is for you to start. It is possible,” says Karabo. “may we be a generation that remembers where it comes from. Then we will see how easy it is to give back.”
