Vision 2063- An African Dream
Permit me to take you around Africa so you appreciate the likes of, David Kenneth Kaunda in Zambia, Hastings Kamuzu Banda, Agostinoh Neto in Angola, Julius Nyerere, Patrice Emery Lumumba and Kwame Nkurumah.
This people I mentioned had one goal in mind that we must liberate the continent, Africa must have one currency, one government, and one common defence force, because if we don’t do that we will be use to our little countries and Africa will be weak.
It is us young people who can provide means that can transform the society, to prove my statement i can ask you a few questions on the bases of age since history say-so, the answer to those question will make it clear and evident to the fact that youth and only youth can be the hope to every society.
The first question just to be relevant to South Africans is: what was the age of Jan van Riebeek, when he settled in the Cape cost in 1688? He was in his 20s unmarried young and vibrant like you. Now let’s move to other parts of the world to give you more evidence on how young people have been the centre of conquers.
What was the age of William Wilberforce when he was agitating for apparition of slavery? What was the age of Ferdinand when he conquered what we now call Congo Brazzaville? What was the age of those young people who demonstrated for education in the Soweto uprising in June 16 1976? What was the age of Martin Luther King junior when he van guarded the civil rights movement? What was the age of Samora Moises Machel when he led the struggle? What was the age of Nelson Mandela in 1964 or that of Oliver Tambo? Moving to today what was and is the age of Julius Sello Malema? The answer in conclusion is “your age.”
Let us be the generation that will liberate Africa, let us eradicate the frame of mind that most young people in Africa have of being only attracted by what is European and American. It is very sad when you ask a young man who is African in Africa that who is the president of Namibia and they go blank, but if you ask them who is the husband of the current female presidential candidate in America they will answer you in no time just like that.
The future and vision 2063 is in us the youth of today “let us not look neither east or west let us look forward”- Kwame Nkurumah.
