Acer Launched the "thinnest" Laptop in the World

By: Debbie Ncube

Computer-manufacturer Acer has launched what it claims to be the new ‘world’s thinnest’ laptop (the 2018 version of Swift 7(SF714-51T) at 8.98mm), which is way thinner than the company’s 2016 model of swift 7 (10.4mm thin), at the Consumer Electronic Showcase(CES) in Las Vegas, beating the recently launched HP Spectre(measures 1.04cm)

The windows 10 laptop has an Intel Core i7 processor along with an 8 GB RAM memory and a 14-inch Full-HD IPS display. The display includes Acer Color Intelligence technology and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection, all in less than a centimeter

It also has a 256 GB of storage onboard alongside some security features including Windows Hello fingerprint scanner, and Acer claims the laptop’s battery can run for up to 10 hours at a single stretch. The laptop weighs 1.1kg(making it easier to package) and it will be slightly larger than double the size of a standard USB port of 4mm, to accommodate the unit and its components.

“Acer is extremely proud to make the world’s thinnest laptop,” said Acer’s IT products business president, Jerry Kao.

“The new Swift 7 steps up the game with an even slimmer chassis, powerful performance and always on-4G LTE connectivity for the go,” he added. It sports an all aluminum body with a black-and-gold dual tone design and it will be available at Acer exclusive stores, selected multi-brand outlets, and on filpkart (exclusively), from November 2018.

The company says that the Swift 7 shows off its rounded corners and chamfered edges around the touchpad that add “just the right touch of depth to its design”. ‘It’s also equipped with Dolby Audio Premium and Acer True Harmony audio technology for ‘clear and bold virtual surround sound’.

Acer launched two more versions that include the 2018 versions of Spin 3 and Nitro 5 at the CES.
