LOVE

Sticking with the concept of 'the month of love’, young creative’s decided to spread love to the people in our community who they believe receive the least of it, on a day to day basis. Young Artifacts had an activation like no other on the 18th February 2017.

The team of young artifacts was out in the streets of Tembisa showing love to the nyaope kids. Before this activation, the were under the impression that people on nyaope 'don't like food' or 'don't eat food'. They have since learn 't that not only do they eat food, they seemed to enjoy it as well.

They decided to hit some of the places where they seem to gather in numbers the most namely: Mayibuye, Birch acres mall(bottom gate), Tembisa plaza and Sangweni taxi rank, and offered each of them hotdogs and some juice to drink.

At first they thought they'd find offense in their act of kindness, and were skeptical of how they'd react towards them offering them food. They could have never predicted their reaction, how excited they were to interact with people who saw them as human beings who needed some help, instead of some type of creatures. Maybe the reason they don't eat as much is because the little money they manage to make goes towards supporting their habit.

Because of their positive response, they have decided that this will not be the last time they do such initiative. Part of their goal is to hit up all the other places they could not reach this weekend. By showing them love, they aim to give some hope and motivation to the ones who are praying and dying to get off the drug. They also hope to motivate more and more people to treat them like the human beings they are, and to think for a moment about the parents praying daily for their children's recovery.

This was not a sponsored initiative, everything came from their own pockets. They were also promoting their up coming entertainment workshop that will be happening on the 2nd April at Esiqongweni Sports Ground.
