Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the united states, it is thee time to do some serious Christmas shopping- falling anywhere between November 23-29, it is busy shopping day. Black Friday was a traditional exclusive to America but now, SA (South Africa) retailers have taken up the tradition and so is rest of the world. The day earned its name as it’s often the day shops “move into the black” meaning they have enough money to cover their costs.
Today 25 Nov 2016 in Mokopane shops’ prices plummet for 24 hours in attempt to get people slashing the cash in the run-up to Christmas. In early hours of the morning Northmag visited Mokopane crossing mall to eyewitness customers queuing for hours, to get their hands on the best bargains. As the doors where opened to get into the Mokopane crossings mall, the shopping mania nearly descended into violence as people argue over trolleys and some fighting for the best deals in store.
Some of the retailers kicked things off ahead of schedule by starting their sale bonanza yesterday 24 Nov 2016 this include Shoprite, Markham, Total Sports and Studio 88.
Last year in total 56 items were sold per second and was the biggest day of sale ever in Limpopo, this was made possible by the help of mall of the north before the mall was introduced black Friday never made such sales in Limpopo. Items in the record making statistic include HD TVs, phones, beauty products, home accessories, fashion, toys and groceries in general.
