Black Window Market where fashion meets good food

Pretoria will never be the same anymore. Saturday saw the launch of the black window market. It was an event not to be missed, with the organizers planning to make it a monthly event that will give people a good social scene, which will take place every last Saturday of the month. Where youth will come together to showcase their different entrepreneurial talents.

It was a Saturday that was fun filled with good vibes and a great friendly crowd was entertained by good music, fashion and good food and great atmosphere. The weather was very cold when you arrive. However, once the music gets going, you are soon warmed and the atmosphere was great. Everyone came to enjoy the day nothing could have stopped the day not even the cold weather could stop the event from continuing throughout the day.

The main highlight of the day was the outdoor fashion show, where models were parading beautiful costumes by the two talented fashion designers Mongi Bacela and Khanyi Maseko who were showcasing their designs. “Mongi is more on traditional designs and Khanyi on the evening and couture wear” says Jabu Mabobo. Both the designers delivered with passion and a dash of style.

With the organizers promising to keep the standard high on a month to month base, they are planning to have 12 events next year for each month they’ll have an event focusing on a country where they’ll promote a theme, culture, have a fashion show and performances of that country.

Jabu Mabobo the general manager of Bushilo initiative said their aim “is to bring the youth together to start collaborating and working together beyond the borders of South Africa.”

Pretoria is their main focal point before exploring the continent, “We would want them to expose them to the SA fashion week and other fashion platforms in the international arena and it is no longer focused in the country but more about the SADAC countries.” says Jabu Mabobo

The aim is to give the youth a platform to have something to do after they have graduated from higher institutions, to use the time to gain experience while waiting for employment.

The rest of the afternoon continued with good music, enjoying food from rockets burger bar with their gourmet burgers and accessories shopping from different stalls such as accessories from above and hair by RHM and RHM accessories which complemented the event.
