COMEDY UNDER THE SUN-WATERLAND
It is awe-inspiring to see celebrities such as Mashabela Galane contributing their time and services to our beloved Province of Limpopo, in the name of giving our Province light and life. It is important not to forget where we come from; it is old news for things to only happen in Gauteng, and other developing provinces in the Republic of South Africa. Well organised, the inaugural comedy under the Sun event was a fantastic show with all the ingredients in what is entertaining moderately.
On Christmas Eve 24 December 2016, citizens of Limpopo congregated to witness historical moment in Limpopo comedy, when Mashabela hosted his first comedy show in the province of Limpopo at Waterland Chisanyama in Polokwane.
“I hosted most of my events in Gauteng in the past 3 years, I figured it is time to bring it home,” said Mashabela.
The show started around 15:00 pm, featuring crowd-pleasers Jazz Buda, Summary, Ndu, Noko (female comedian from Ga-Matlala Tibane Limpopo) and Mashabela the man himself. Mashabela was the first to entertain the crowd, and then far along performance by Mandisa Kay and other local artists to complete the definition of the event (Comedy under the Sun) which is comedy outdoor fuse with good music.
It was unfortunate for people who came from as far as Mokopane, Zebediela and other places distant from Polokwane.
“It is so sad that I have to leave the show, I am so enjoying myself but due to the fact that I have to drive for hours, I have to find the middle ground and go home when the time is still right,“ said Thobile Ledwaba from Mokopane.
Emcee for the occasion was the one and merely Clement Maosa (Kwaito Seakamela in the local Drama Skeemsaam).
“I’m here to support my brother from another mother Mashabela in his work and more to celebrate his birthday , and also to support local artists since I am all about supporting local people, I believe in the fact that united we shall stand divided we fall,” Said Clement.
The event gave big Mashabela fan, a chance to meet him for the first time at the event and upon spotting him, they embraced what seemed like forever and took selfies and even shared jokes with him on the spot.
