EQUIPPED TO SHOW THE WAY #YouthCan
Sports and recreation South Africa with the nine (9) provinces held National Youth training camp for National Youth Camp stewards at Discovery Camp, in Limpopo, Hamaanskraal, from 12 to 16 September 2016.
The programme included a variety of activities to train and inspire camp steward to be actively involved in the National Youth Camp that will be held from 1st -8 of October 2016 in all 9 provinces in the land. The stewards were chosen to attend the training based on their leadership abilities, as well as showing a passion for helping their peers.
“We believe that by instilling the L2S (Lean Lead Serve) values in our youth leadership, we will make our youth leadership stronger, more viable and in touch with their peers. We have been focusing on achieving this over the last few years following, a motivation from our Sport and Recreation minister, Honourable Mr Fikile Mbalula.”- Said Mehlomakhulu.
The camp was a wonderful time of shared experiences and motivational sessions. On Thursday night, the stewards were treated to some wonderful performances by some in the group, through Dance, Hip-hop performances; Poetry...... the list goes....
Each evening of the camp were focused on understanding the Youth Camp Programme and how to use its content to inspire other young people. A highlight on the evenings was a motivational talk by National Youth Camp South Africa Brand Ambassador, Nkosana Mehlomakhulu, who always fined a way to connect with young people and inspire them with his own life story.
The primary objectives of the camp YOUTH CAMP programme is to develop young people, and empower them with requisite values, soft-skills and knowledge that can assist them to become responsible, conscious citizens and to strengthen their sense of patriotism and identity.
